Xolisa is the coach of the BMX programme and coordinates the nutrition programme at Velokhaya. An alumnus of the academy, he is passionate about mentoring and motivating current members, especially BMX riders, who he believes can achieve greatness on the world stage.
Xolisa completed his Level 1 UCI coaching certificate and is currently completing a B.Sc. SRES degree at the University of the Western Cape.
Ncumisa “Mickey” Makasi is the Head of Operations and Programmes at Velokhaya. Since 2000 she’s been a dedicated and passionate Accounting educator in the Western Cape Department of Basic Education, teaching at a broad spectrum of schools across the province, including Iqhayiya Secondary and Gardens Commercial.
In 2007 she was promoted to Head of Department for Commerce. Mams, as we lovingly call her, was also a gifted school conductor and led many schools to national competitions. She has also worked tirelessly to help eradicate drugs in schools.
Ncumisa has a Diploma in Education Commerce and an advanced diploma in Accounting, specialising in entrepreneurship, both from Cape University of Technology (CPUT).
